Goals: Therapeutic applications on the Mat, Reformer, Swiss Ball and Foam Roller to include classic Pilates work as well as Bosates: Balance on an unstable surface and Pilates.
Course Overview: The 5-hour workshop will include progressions of Classic Pilates exercises in a therapeutic setting. The progressions will begin on the mat and move to the Swiss Ball, Foam Roller and finally to the Reformer. Advanced variations will be included. The main focus will be on the postural muscles and spinal column, including deeper strengthening of the core musculature by initiating from the Pelvic Floor, Transversus Abs and Multifidus prior to movement. Breathing techniques to facilitate this initiation pattern will be included.
Symmetry of the core, pelvic and hip musculature will be addressed through exercises focusing on pelvic stabilization with mobilization of the extremities.
Balance and functional seated and standing exercises will be included utilizing the Reformer, Swiss Ball, Foam Roller and Bosu® (if applicable) to facilitate core strengthening, proprioception and overall postural awareness.
Prerequisites: At least 30 hours of previous mat and equipment work with a certified Pilates Trainer, prior to applying for the course. A current CPR certification. A basic understanding of Human Anatomy, Kinesiology and Biomechanics. Ideally the candidate will have completed a college level course in one or all of these areas.

A 30 hour intensive teacher training on the selected pilates equipment. The course includes basic anatomy and biomechanics, Pilates Equipment exercises with extensive breakdown for modifications and variations as well as training on how to teach a flowing workout for your clientele. The participants must pass a practical examination proctored by a Team Pilates Staff member.

An introduction to Basic Biomechanical movement and how it relates to Pilates exercises on the Reformer will be included. This 18-hour course will focus on advanced repertoire on the Reformer and will be the final module to complete a full certification on the Pilates Reformer. The course will delve deeper into the Pilates principles, especially when dealing with advanced clientele. It will teach a sequence of breathing and core facilitation that will lead to the correct muscular firing pattern for success in the advanced work. Precautions will be addressed, especially in relation to special populations.
